I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in History/Social Studies Education in December of 2021. The History Education Program at App State provided solid training because it is housed in the Department of History and led by faculty with wide experiences in public education, while also complemented by coursework in the College of Education.  I particularly enjoyed researching Asain, European, and American. during my studies, because I enjoy learning more about Japanese, Medieval, and the American Civil War when it comes to history.

In my classroom, students will enjoy a positive and hands-on approach to learning about the past. One of my model lessons includes letting the students try authentic Mesoamerican food! In another lesson, I have the students learning how to read the famous Mayan calendar. (Insert 1-2 examples - may be some activities in your lesson plans). My goal as a teacher master the art of teaching and a deeper understanding of the material that I am presenting to the students.

In my spare time, I enjoy historical reenacting with my American Revolution recreated unit the 71st Highlander Regiment of Foot. I also enjoy writing fantasy works and currently working on a novel. I also enjoy playing the Scottish Bagpipes. If you would like to reach me, send me an email at SabastionHaywood@gmail.com
